The FPS is pleased to announce a new webinar, organised in partnership with The European Federation of Foundation Contractors, which will take place on Thursday 20th June (12pm-1.30pm BST), entitled ‘Low Carbon Equipment’.

The decarbonisation challenge demands that all construction plant and equipment is net zero by 2050 in the UK and Europe. Some cities in the UK and Europe are moving even faster to stop the use of diesel equipment. Contractors are therefore rapidly moving towards newer technologies, like electric, hybrid and hydrogen equipment.

This webinar will look at the real-life contractor experience using electric and hydrogen equipment on sites, sharing findings, successes and lessons learned.

SPEAKERS

Luke Deamer (Group Sustainability Manager at Keller)

Luke is Group Sustainability Manager for Keller. He recently carried out a PhD focused on supporting the adoption of improved sustainable processes across all function of a geotechnical company. Luke has authored several papers on geotechnical company sustainability and sits on the FPS and EFFC sustainability working groups. He has previously worked as a structural geologist on the Panama Canal and the Oman Drilling Project.

Jan-Erik Svensson (Chief Engineer at Hercules Sweden)

Jan-Erik Svensson is a Chief Engineer and a member of the management team at Hercules Sweden. For over fifteen years, Jan-Erik has worked as an electrical and automation designer, with experience in pile cranes and lime machines. He was appointed Chief Engineer at Hercules in 2016.

Matt Gregory (Senior Project Manager at Cementation)

Matt holds 17 years of experience in piling and foundations. He has lead teams on numerous large-scale projects such as Crossrail, A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon upgrade, Heathrow Kilo box, and most recently he managed the HS2 project, overseeing a £30m asset and engineering teams across various rigs. His focus on technical details led to implementation of low carbon concretes and the first electric plug-in large piling rig amongst other sustainable incentives.

Ole Aga (Site Manager & Acquisition at Keller Geoteknikk AS)

Ole Aga (MSc. Engineering & Hydrogeology) manages challenging geotechnical projects in complex soils. Ole has worked with different products such as jet grouting, sheet piling and anchors and now focuses on bored and secant piles using electric rigs and equipment.

Ole will present two case studies from Norway, executing bored and secant piles with the LB20 unplugged electric rig. The presentation will discuss the pros and cons of these case studies from an executive perspective.
