FPS Chair to Feature in Construction Index Podcast

New Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) Chair, Steve Hadley, has been invited to contribute to one of the regular podcasts introduced by Construction Index, one of the main media outlets serving the wider construction sector.

The podcasts, which to-date have covered a wide range of topics, including more recently the many issues surrounding the recent COVID-19 crisis, are thought-provoking as well as hopefully engaging with listeners to encourage off-line debate.

Steve’s contribution will also cover his thoughts and views on COVID-19, but also, as new FPS Chair, some of the issues facing piling and wider construction such as diversity as well as other issues that he would like to champion during his tenure such as sustainability. With Steve from an independent SME company committed he will also talk about issues from that perspective, and how smaller piling companies can also lead the way in pushing the FPS standards ever higher and their role in shaping the industry. The benefits of a mentoring system to aid career development will also be discussed and how he feels will encourage recruitment and retention in the sector.

Given the current COVID-19 crisis, Steve will also talk about the importance of Health and Wellbeing, and how the construction industry can build on the already great strides it has taken, such as the FPS’s own research project into fatigue.

The podcast will be available on Wednesday, 15 April 2020 and will be available from https://www.theconstructionindex.co.uk/podcast
