FPS Early Careers Group October Presentation – The design life cycle and how might a specialist contractor provide influence

The Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) Early Careers Group (ECG) is hosting an evening presentation on the engaging topic ‘The design life cycle and how might a specialist contractor provide influence.’

The presentation, which is being held 20th October 2021 at 6pm, will be delivered by Tony Suckling, Director of A-squared Studio at its office in London.

With piling contractors often receiving poor quality information from specifications and ground investigations, Tony’s presentation will describe the project life cycle, with examples from the various RIBA stages, along with the opportunities that exist early on for specialists to influence the ground investigation and the foundation design in terms of appropriateness, practicality, and sustainability. When the information is received by a contractor at tender stage it is often then too late to significantly affect the overall design solution.

Tony, a Chartered Engineer with experience in the field of geotechnical and structural engineering, has been involved in a wide range of projects in the UK, and also in Europe, Australia and the Middle East and has experience in all aspects of delivering geotechnical and structural expertise on projects, especially with regard to design and construction of foundations and deep excavation substructures.
