EFFC Concrete Tremie Guide Version 2 Published

The Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) is pleased to announce that the EFFC Concrete Tremie Guide Version 2 has been published.

The guide supersedes version one, which was produced by the joint Concrete Task Group set up by EFFC and DFI who undertook a detailed assessment of best practice and research into the subject area. Version 2 is the latest update to this document and follows a joint EFFC/DFI research program, including desk studies, laboratory and on-site testing in Europe and the United States, resulting in definitive concrete acceptance criteria being presented.

The revised guide also discusses the potential of numerical simulation of concrete flow in order to better understand interactions between design, concrete and also execution details.

The aim of the first edition of the “Best Practice Guide to Tremie Concrete for Deep Foundations” was to ensure the client, the designer, the contractor and the concrete supplier have a common understanding of the capability of modern concrete for deep foundations, and of other important factors impacting the concrete flow through all openings to embed the reinforcement and completely fill the excavation and the second edition moves this on further.
