Early Careers Group – February Meeting Announced

February’s Early Careers Group (ECG) event will be held virtually 23rd February 2021, at 3pm and will last approximately 1 hour.

The session will feature Steve Hadley, Chair of the Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) and Managing Director of Central Piling present “Compassionate Leadership in Practice.”

The session will lead with Steve talking about his own career journey and how it has informed his current leadership style, before describing how leaders are creating stimulating and supportive working environments, which can facilitate innovation and deliver peak performance.

Steve will also explain how adopting this philosophy influences some of the priorities for the FPS during his tenure as Chair and the progress made so far.

As with all ECG sessions, time will be made for a question-and-answer session and Steve will also make himself available after the event for any one-to-one conversations with any of the participants in the live session.

Steve will be an excellent presenter on the topic, as he has over 22 years of experience within the piling industry. Since 2006, Steve has held the majority ownership of Central Piling and during his time has focussed on developing the business and the talent within the business.

Within the wider industry Steve has been a co-author on the latest ICE SPERWall document and is passionate about improving diversity, health, and welfare in construction.

Steve’s background prior to his acquisition of Central Piling was as a Design & Technical Manager at Rock & Alluvium. His dedication to technical excellence has allowed Steve to gain recognition from the ICE where he is an accredited Fellow.

Already during his time as FPS Chair, Steve has developed the mentoring programme to link the industry with university students with geotechnical degrees, improved engagement through initiatives like the podcast and his blog and is leading the way for a more inclusive industry moving forward.

Invites to members of the FPS ECG will be issued shortly and for those unable to attend, a copy of the presentation will be made available following the event.
