FPS Chair to Speak at GE Basements & Underground Structures Conference

The Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) is pleased to announce its Chair, John Chick, has been invited to speak at Ground Engineering’s Basements and Underground Structures Conference 2023, which this year is being held 5th October, at the Victoria Park Plaza, London.

With the event designed to bring together those working on a diverse range of projects, in sectors including infrastructure, commercial and residential, to share best practice, discuss industry challenges and enjoy extensive networking, John’s presentation ‘How to ensure basements don’t go wrong / ways to avoid them going wrong’, will be extremely relevant.

As secant and contiguous bored pile walls have become increasingly ambitious over the last 20 years; retailed heights have increased, deflection criteria have become tighter, and imposed vertical loads have greatly increased. John will discuss how some of the fundamental issues associated with successful wall construction are operational and practical, rather than technical, and his talk is intended to illustrate some of the basic issues which still get forgotten in the rush to install a high specification basement in the shortest possible time – a piling specialist’s view.

Supported by the FPS, a discount of 15% has been negotiated for FPS Members wishing to attend: https://basements.geplus.co.uk/basements2023/en/page/why-attend
