FPS Supports BuildUK Calling for “Poor Payer Consequences”

The Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) fully backs Build UK’s stance on calling for “consequences for those companies, particularly when it comes to winning work” that have a poor record on payment and other questionable business practices.

Build UK Chairman and Mace deputy chief operating officer Mark Castle, spoke candidly on the subject in an article with Construction News [https://tinyurl.com/y7m8rr8k].

The FPS both welcomes and supports Build UK promoting the Carillion collapse as a long overdue “catalyst for change” in construction.

The FPS has long called for reforms to commercial practices; for example, by not supporting retention in any form, seeking Fair Payment, equitable contract terms and risk apportionment amongst other similar initiatives. The FPS has lobbied for many years on such issues and lends its full support to both Build UK and CECA members in their commitment to reform of the construction industry.
