FPS Quarterly Meeting Committee Update – January 2024

During the recent FPS Quarterly Meeting, we discussed some remarkable initiatives that are shaping the future of piling. Here are the highlights:

Piling Apprenticeship: We’re proud to partner with CITA and Sheffield College to deliver the Level 2 Piling Attendant apprenticeship. Currently, we have 20 apprentices on board, with room for 10 more. This scheme lasts 18-24 months and is funded through the apprenticeship levy or a 5% SME contribution.

Safety First: Our Safety Working Group is actively working on new procedures to enhance safety during concrete pumping operations. Look out for more updates on how we’re reducing risks and ensuring the well-being of our industry professionals.

Sustainability: Sustainability is a top priority. We’re actively collaborating with organisations like EFFC and DFI to create global guides that promote carbon reduction, circular economy, and water reduction in piling operations.

Young Talent: We’re committed to engaging the next generation of piling experts through our Early Careers Group. If you’re a young professional or know someone interested in piling, please reach out to learn more about our exciting initiatives.

Technical Excellence: Our Technical Committee is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in the industry. We’re constantly working on improving our practices and sharing knowledge for the benefit of all.

Rig Operator Training: We’re defining Drthe best training practices for rig operators, ensuring they receive the right education and experience. This effort aims to enhance safety and professionalism in our field.

TIP Testing Project: Our ongoing project focuses on improving sonic logging practices and acceptance criteria. We’re committed to adopting industry best practices and ensuring the quality of our work.

Engagement and Growth: To further our engagement within the industry, we’re exploring various avenues, including events, webinars, and partnerships. Our goal is to foster a strong community of professionals and experts.

Awards and Recognition: We’re proud of our industry’s achievements and continuously recognise excellence through awards like the EFFC European Safety Awards. Congratulations to our winners!
